I got this to do some skateboarding videos with my daughter. It works very well. It make the camera much more easy to handle and allows for more stable shots

I’m using a Canon Vixia HF R800 camera and a Takstar shotgun mic. This bracket moves the mic up and out of the way of the camera controls and allows me to get to the zoom, record button, touch screen and etc. without interference. I’m running the Macro lens adapter to widen the field of view yet the mic is still well out of frame. I do not have to break the set-up down as it is already flat and slips right into my backpack. I have a quick disconnect from my tripod mounted on the bottom so I can set it up in a flash.

This was at a great price for what it offers. I was very surprised that it was able to be mounted to my tripods with no additional tools or bolts. It comes equipped with it at the bottom! They say it in the description it it works great. Was able to place my light, cell phone and microphone on it with no problem. Fits Canon T5 easily

Not too much to say about this. Since I just got it today I cannot talk about the overall durability or long lasting features but right out of the box it has a good feel to it.. Being 100% plastic the unit is light and seems to be put together well.. The cold shoes are also made of plastic so someone who is “rough” with this could probably break these ~ so handle these stabilizers with some care. If you were to drop this unit and it land just right on the top I suppose you could break or crack the cold shoes..
The handle has some very soft foam’ish material which feels great “but” after a lot of use I guess it could start showing signs of wear and tear unlike a plain steel or plastic handle…
Needless to say, if you need an inexpensive and well built grip in this style you cannot go wrong with this… For the cost if this could get me through a few years its well worth the money! I actually use this for a camcorder, 1 external microphone and 1 light. 🙂

I’ve had this for a month and a half and have carried it around with me everywhere, in 3 or 4 different configurations.

To me in the pictures it looked cheezy and plasticy, I almost didn’t buy it, but it was cheap (and so am I) and available so I tried it, figuring that Amazon is GREAT with returns and I could order one of the more expensive ones if I didn’t like it.

Well I was totally wrong. It is made of plastic but it’s very well designed and made. The frame is sturdy and light, and although I’m mostly using it for a lightweight video rig (a Sony alpha and a light), I’ve tried it with my Nikon D7100, 400mm zoom lens, light, and microphone (a big, heavy camera body with a BIGGER and HEAVIER camera lens, if you’re not familiar with it, most people consider the D7xxx the top of Nikon’s consumer line or the bottom of their professional line), and I was not at all worried about it, it worked VERY WELL and I had no worries of the grip’s strength/rigidity.

The foam grip is about as good as these things get, I’m sure it will eventually wear out, but it’s high quality with molded-in red finger grips which not only feel good in your hand but kind of grab onto you so they don’t feel like they slide out, they also provide a nice spot to let the grip hang off a finger to use as a Steadicam. FWIW, I used it in a very dusty fabrication shop and hung it off a dusty pipe on the ceiling to shoot some footage a few hours before taking these pictures and the dust came right off.

The red surface on the base looked like the worst part to me in the pictures, plasticy and gaudy. Well, that was completely wrong. It’s a thin layer of nice grippy rubber that keeps whatever you screw down to this in position, no moving around, in person, it looks nice also. If you’re worried about the single T-slot I’ve found that even in 4 different setups I didn’t have a use for the second one that most of these kinds of grips have. With the small rig it puts the front of the shortest lens I own just a hair behind the front of the rig protecting it from knocks and bumps, with something bigger you wouldn’t want it any further forward at all. Offset to the side like in my pic it’s just enough to counterbalance the rechargeable light and arm that I mounted off the side- I think that most people would prefer to put the light in the 3-way shoe above the camera but I’ve found that I’ve been using this a bit to shoot under things and with the light, to the side it’s both MUCH more compact and MUCH less likely to get blocked by whatever I’m getting under to shoot.

If you’re not sure about it get it, like I said, I’m cheap and I would have been thrilled with this at 2x or more the price that I paid ($12.76).

A little smaller than other U grips which I like. Position adjustments are good forward and back but side to side is only 2 as opposed to others that give you 10 but that’s ok bc that is rarely a factor and not used as much. Has 3 cold shoe points. They could have put 1 or 2 more if they wanted to. One on front where their logo is and one on the bottom. Build quality is good but the whole thing is plastic. It’s ok density but would prefer a thicker quality. Seems it would break easily under most conditions but hey I’m careful with my cameras anyways. Just don’t go filming a riot with this thing. The foam is good but gotta point out it is scrunched up in a section like they took it from a bigger U grip and just shoved it onto this. Couple of foam indentations on the handle but not bad. It just doesn’t seem made particularly for this. May work itself out. Adjustment knob is good the base has nice rubber padding where needed everything is pretty good here. Just wish it was more solid feeling to handle heavier cameras. Had my P1000 on it and you can feel the plastic give a little like if you grabbed it faster or harder something might break. But it didn’t. Happy with the purchase the price is good but if they ever make a metal version of this or use denser plastic I’m on it. ????

This has worked well for me so far, especially for the price. It’s certainly not without flaws, like the flex it has at the 45° sections, the build quality, and the lack of real grip on the base. For that last one, I cut two little rubber strips and super glued them on each side of the tripod bolt so the camera wouldn’t turn when tightening or just over time. All in all, good purchase but only at this price range. Great opportunity for some else to swoop in and make something between this and a metal rig/cage.
