I’ve had a few light stand through out the entire time i started photography but non come close to this one. I’ve been looking for an ideal travel stand that is not huge and heavy but can still support my strobe that I always use with me and a diffuser. The ones I am currently using were heavy and cumbersome and huge to take with you to shoots. Until I found this one, it’s light, fordable, compact and damn good looking. Yes, I said “good looking”! It’s just perfect for my type of usage. Compact enough that i don’t need the bag it came with, I can just fold it and hook it on my camera bag. I can just use the bag for random stuff I take to my shoots. My actual tripod is bigger than this and heavier but it’s already the compact version or tripods. Yes, its not the ideal stand for using HUGE strobes/lights but if you are like me and want a compact, easy to carry stand for everything then I recommend this Ulanzi stand. Made of carbon fibre, the knobs and locks are easy to manoeuvre. Just attach your off camera flash and you’re set. If you want a bit more stability, just put a sand bag on the legs to keep it steady on windy days. Now I am set for both indoor/outdoor shoots this summer.???? aside from that, my only qualms is the price but you get what you pay for.

This stand is light weight, and easy to set up. It comes with a nice cary bag as well. It looks good and seems to be durable. If your lighting is light weight enough it will do a great job.

The one thing that I don’t like is that part of what makes is so light also makes it flex a lot. When I deploy an AD200 with a large soft box it flexes quite a bit. This even happens with a 21″ parabolic. It’s not in any danger of breaking, but it is in danger of tipping over. A sand bag fixes that easily enough, but negates much of the advantage of a light-weight stand for shooting in hard to reach areas.

Basically, if I can drive there then I can bring a C-stand or steel light stand, but if I have to carry a stand a long way, then I don’t want to bring a sand bag. I guess that’s what assistants are for.

It’s also a little shorter than I would like, but not so much that it’s unworkable. If you can work within these limitations then it’s a great product.

I probably used this for something it was not designed for. I used it to put a laser level on to mark a wall for hanging a picture. At full height, this tended to wobbly a bit when I walked near it. The floor is covered with a vinyl tile plank on concrete slab. If using it for a light, it may not matter, but this could cause a variation in the lighting while recording a video.

I bought it from ulzani’s official site and wish I didn’t since I assume a return would be more of a pain than it’s worth (it ships from china there). There it’s listed as having a capacity of ~13 lbs. I see here they list it as 3.3lbs… That’s probably reasonable accurate although I wouldn’t trust 3 lbs of camera on it when fully extended. The legs aren’t super stable and everything flexes, but if you’re just putting a small off camera flash and very very small modifier on it in non-windy conditions, it should be pretty nice; it is lightweight and feels well made when it’s not bearing weight.

I pinched myself a couple times because the legs were sticky. But the stands are solid and light.

I ordered this brand new and was actually sent a used one. I contacted amazon and they promptly sent me a new one and I am glad they did. This is a 5 star tripod for my needs and will be coming with me on many different shoots. The bag/bluetooth clicker/phone holder are decent but really just nice to haves in the end. The tripod / monopod is really great though. It’s super light and folds/unfolds quickly. It’s really well built and sure, it’s a tad flimsy at max extension but it’s really a monopod and less of a tripod. I use this with an insta 360 action camera and it works great for taking 360 photos and videos. It’s virtually invisible in the shot (you just see the feet) and so light I can take it with me everywhere. I have attached my Fujifilm mirrorless to it and it held up, but I wouldn’t put anything too heavy on it. If I ever have a need for multiple lights or other accessories to be put on the side, I’d certainly pick up another for that.

The stand is very lightweight and made well. However, if you are going to use it fully extended (especially with a light that has any weight to it), be ready for it to sway back and forth easily. The base is still stable, but it’s too much swaying for my nerves.

I was hoping to use this stand for a light with a bowens mount and dome. However, I will be putting one of my much lighter led panels on it instead.

Don’t get me wrong. This is a great stand, and it is very well made. I just would not use it for lights with much weight to them.

Awesome product and works as advertised but when you splay the feet flat and jank up the lock (there’s no flat setting or a notch to denote that it’ll be flat), the stand is a lot less stable. Either way, it’s really light and should be used with a sandbag or two.

The tripod is absolutely beautiful! A true piece of art. It’s perfect for my new GoPro 11 black. It matches the camera and it’s super lightweight. The carbon fibre is flawless. I would highly recommend this tripod to anyone who owns a GoPro, or a small lightweight camera.

The tripod can reach a little over 6 feet. Comes with a nice carrying case and is quite compact when folded up. They even took the time to grease all the locking knobs.

Compared to a regular tripod this one is extremely lightweight, and can be carried without any effort.

Five stars all the way around!

It is incredibly light-weight and extremely well made, however, if you are planning on putting a full size strobe on it, it does bow to the side from the weight.

It doesn’t slip though because of the high quality connectors that are used and If I was using a shoe mount flash off camera, it would be perfect, but with anything larger than that it gave me concern and I ended up not using it.

I would defiantly recommend it for a flash that is not too heavy, meaning if your flash was designed to be shoe mounted, or something like a AD200, AD360ii etc. it would be a perfect match.

Great job on the design and aesthetics and if they came up with a beefier version of it, I would switch from my Manfrotto’s.

This tripod is incredible. The versatility, carbon fibre, and build quality make the added cost reasonable compared to a generic one. The 5 feet pole detaches (somewhat cumbersome) make it effective as a selfie stick or a boom; I can confirm the Insta360 One X2 will treat it like an invisible stick, and it has some flex with a blimp/dead cat setup.

For lighting, you can almost trust it like a c-stand, but this is when the material works against it. While It can support an entire rig (~10 lbs/4.5 kg) at maximum height, it bows almost an inch (see pictures); you want to avoid it as your keylight. However, it is very sturdy if you do not fully extend any section.

While there isn’t a handy hook for the power station to hang, a clamp works well right above the second collar. Don’t trust it to remain stationary for a long shoot, as its light weight makes it susceptible to tipping from bumps or adjustments after repositioning. While you can flatten the stand and add sandbags for stability, you would lose about a foot of height.

I bought an additional one to complete my location kit, as I am constantly using it for my Insta360 One X2 instead of the Insta360 branded stick and tripod. An excellent upgrade for version 2 would be a quick release and an additional length of piping at the base.

There are different light stands for all kinds of different applications. Some are intentionally heavy, like c-stands, to be able to hold heavier gear. Others are light weight to hold little lights and be out of the way. Most all of them are just gray, polished steel or black. This light stand on the other hand… it’s something else… it looks good from the descriptions and photos, but in person it is gorgeous.

Light stands are meant to.. well… hold lights… or flags and gobos…they are always outside of the picture, but helping make the picture. This light stand is very pretty… and it’s probably a conversation starter with any photo/video/cinema/television person. There are tripods that hold cameras made of carbon fiber with fancy finishes. But not light stands with this much refinement.

It comes folded in a very compact carrying case and can expand up to 6 feet. At about 4 to 5 feet, it starts getting less stable. The center post itself has considerable flex to it when extended. I added a full size strobe head to try out the fit and how it handled the load. For the most part it’s pretty sturdy, but it does have a wobble as its extended further. I think it’s best used for chest-height applications or with lighter payloads.

One other thing I noticed is that, when tightening a light to the top of the stand center post, I ended up denting aluminum.

The finishes are premium quality: twist locks are anodizes aluminum, there is a bigger twist lock at the base of the center post with a triangular shape that helps tighten the legs into position, the legs have red anodized aluminum braces and all of the tubes are silky smooth and have mesh carbon fiber visible as a design feature. All in a matte finish (nothing should be shiny off camera).

Compared to a full size aluminum light stand, this stand is not as rigid and is not as large. I’d place this in the category for portable light stand for field applications. The center post can also double as a monopod or a selfie stick. Top of the post has a 1/4-20 screw.

This stand also includes a bluetooth camera trigger (single button) and a phone clamp. These are both a bit plasticky, but are freebies, so I am not complaining. They will come in handy I am sure.

I am very pleased with this product. Beautifully designed… just could be a bit more rigid.
