I own the Canon C100 Mark ii and after owning this for a few months here are my observations,

    PROS
    1. This camera feels better in your hands. Much more ergonomic and super lightweight.
    2. This camera has incredible slow motion at 1080p. I only shoot in 1080 so that is what makes this camera perfect for me. If I was wanting 4k then I wouldn’t love it.
    3. 10 bit and 4:2:2 makes this camera much easier to color correct in post. more forgiving and great dynamic range.
    4. I read a lot about the XAVCL codec being not super but I think it looks great and can’t see any difference.

    CONS.
    1. The color science is definitely not as good as Canon. When I combine the 2 cameras the Canon ALWAYS makes skin tones look better than the sony. However it is pretty easy to match the shots once in editing. The main thing is that Sony skin tones just look a little grey. Should it prevent you from buying this camera? No, it just requires a little extra love in post. Just be aware.
    2. The LCD is nice and looks good, however I think the C100 has a better mount for it cause it folds into itself and is protected. I feel like it is too exposed and is going to get a big scratch or bend in the screen. It just needs a little bit more attention than the C100.
    3. The viewfinder isn’t great. The LCD is definitely better. Since I never use the viewfinder this doesn’t bother me.

This is a review in progress, I upgraded from a Canon 6D and so far I love this camera, Its better in every way possible. The 240fps is so beautiful even though it’s only an 8 second burst. The camera is super light weight almost feels fake at first but once you add the accessories and a battery it feels just right. I’ve flown this on my DJI Ronin M and it work like a beauty (Just make sure you have a very small lens and you use a UP-60 battery, It give the camera a better balance on the smaller gimbal). People say the menus are confusing I don’t think they’re. You just a little time to get used to them and once you do its just as easy as any Canon menu.
All in all ‘So far” I love this camera the ONLY thing I wish it had was an on camera built in microphone for scratch audio when I don’t want to use the included handle

Don’t get me wrong, the quality is great, but to make a camera that is meant to run around with ergonomically, but then not build in an image stabilizer, defeats the purpose of making this camera so friendly to carry around a lot. Like come on, the electronic nd isn’t really nessessary. Sony puts too much unnecessary stuff into their cameras. Oh, not to mention, the 2nd SD card slot on my camera didn’t work at all.
Don’t even bother getting this at all. Wait for the next model if they actually have time to improve it before they release it in 6 months.
If you’re looking for something like this, go for the A7sii or the canon cinema line of cameras, maybe the 5D mark 4 ? There’s too many quirky and badly designed parts to this camera, that’s why I will soon send it back and buy the 5D mark IV.

The variable ND and form factor are great, but beware that the XAVC-L codec is indeed very difficult to edit with. I had to return the camera as the footage was simply too demanding on my Sony Vegas Pro 13 editing software and editing efficiently was not possible. My computer is an i7 PC with 32 GB of RAM and 3.4 GHz. I guess computers, processors, and editing software still have some catching up to do.
