I am a photographer so I have several strobes, but these continuous/video lights are used frequently in my studio as well (especially for things like pointing them through a window to create or enhance a “natural” window light look). About half of my lights are NEEWER brand and I have never been let down by their quality, especially relative to the price. These are simply a good, quality, sturdy product and you really can’t go wrong. The remotes on these can be a little finicky at times unless you’re quite close to the lights but that’s something that happens with some of my other video lights that cost nearly 5x what these did.

If you’re in the market for something like this, these are a quality piece and NEEWER is a great budget gear brand.

I have been using the NEEWER Upgraded CB60 70W LED Video Light for a couple of months now, and I must say, I am extremely impressed with this product. This LED video light has been an absolute game-changer for my photography and videography work, and it has quickly become one of my favorite tools in my equipment arsenal.

The light is incredibly powerful, providing a stunning 9000Lux@1M output. The 5600K daylight and CRI 97+/TLCI 97+ color rendering are also exceptional, allowing me to achieve true-to-life colors and perfect skin tones. The Bowens mount is a nice touch, and it makes it easy to use with a variety of different light modifiers and accessories.

The wireless remote is also a great feature, allowing me to control the light output and settings from a distance. This has been especially useful for studio work and other settings where I need to be behind the camera and can’t adjust the light manually.

The build quality of the light is also excellent, and it feels very sturdy and well-made. It’s also compact and easy to transport, making it a great option for on-the-go shoots.

Overall, I would highly recommend the NEEWER Upgraded CB60 70W LED Video Light to anyone who is looking for a high-quality and versatile lighting solution. It’s perfect for studio and outdoor photography, as well as YouTube videos and other video work. It’s a must-have for anyone who is serious about their craft and wants to achieve professional-level results.

The Neewer CB60 continuous LED studio light is a valuable addition to any photographer or videographer’s lighting setup. Assembly is straightforward, with the light funnel simply clicking onto the device. However, users will need to purchase a separate mount or stand in order to use the light. Once assembled, the CB60 produces a bright 5600k light that can be easily dimmed or brightened using the controls. The remote also allows for syncing with multiple devices, making it easy to set up and control lighting in larger studios. One convenient feature of the CB60 is the upgrade port in the rear, which allows users to add on additional equipment like soft boxes or umbrellas. The cooling fan is also very quiet, ensuring it won’t disrupt recordings.

One downside of the Neewer CB60 is the lack of a carrying case. This could make it difficult for users to transport the light and its accessories safely. It’s worth noting that the power cord for the CB60 is quite long, which could be useful for those with larger studios. However, this may also be a drawback for those who need a shorter cord for their particular setup.

Overall, the Neewer CB60 is a reliable and high-quality LED studio light that offers a lot of versatility and convenience. Its bright light and easy-to-use controls make it suitable for both novice and professional photographers and videographers. The only major downside is the need to purchase a separate mount or stand, and the lack of a carrying case.

I really enjoy this light. It checks off many boxes for me.

    PROS:

    Bright Light
Comes with a remote (you can control up to 10 of these lights)
Compatible with many setups and accessories
    Built in fan for cooling
Can control the brightness from the remote.

    CONS:

Lack of a protective case for transport and storage
No tripod or mounting solution included

I like that you are in control of the lighting. It is a constant light and you can use for video and not worry about it fluttering. I only have had one opportunity to use this so far. I shot a food product photo shoot and I used this as the light source. The shots were excellent and the food looked awesome! Lighting does matter. The adjustable brightness was exactly what made the difference.

All-in-all, the light was priced at $209.99 at the time of ordering. This will resonate differently value-wise for each user. I found this to be a decent price for the quality of light you are receiving. I suppose the true test of value is what you are using this light for. The baseline comment to this, this light will improve your photography/videography end results, no doubt in my mind.

I would recommend this NEEWER CB60 Video light. Just remember, if you do not have a stand or compatible tripod, order one. This light is not very useful without a stand to mount it on. Also, exercise caution and keep the box to store it in and carry for transit to shooting locations. It does not come with a case or carrier.

In the event that experiences change or evolve, updates may be made to this review to address such developments.

I am an old school Elinchrom BRX/D-Lite user. So I’m not new to studio lighting equipment but I am new to LED technology. The old school flash bulbs and 100W continuous incandescent bulbs are what I use and having used some 500W to 1000W flash strobes before, this Neewer CB60 is genuinely intriguing.

It’s a continuous light that you can use as a key light, spotlight, diffused light if you use an umbrella or soft box. The 5600K color temperature is very accurate indeed. If you have experience with studio strobes, you can always add filters to change the lighting quality as well. With this continuous output LED lamp, it’s like a strobe but not quite like one. The old school strobes I’m use to I position the 100W bulb in positions in the studio to get a sense of how the light will all on my subjects and I use an old Sekonic flash meter to meter the exposure. With an LED continuous bulb like this CB60 model, the light is exactly WYSIWYG (what you see is what you get). I’ll have to admit I’ll need more time to experiment with this new technology but overall I will tell you that the light casts consistent 5600K light. You can adjust the light output with the remote (which is handy) and that’s about it. Turning it off/on via remote and adjusting the light power. You cannot adjust the color temperature at all.

With this continuous light, you can let your camera set the exposure since it’s exactly how your scene is to be expected. Other than this new way of shooting studio scenes, I think it’s quite alright. I will still continue to use my elinchrom strobes because it gives back my old school control over my scenes. In all honesty I’m so use to the older methods of light photography I don’t think these new lamps are going to do away with the older flash bulb tech. That’s just my opinion as a lighting photographer – NOT as a video shooter.

This model is great for the price – in fact it gives you plenty of lumen output even at a mere 70w. The temperature of the bulb is controlled via circuits and a fan that is just whisper quiet. Makes my old strobes fan noise sound so loud!

You can attached an umbrella and I’m sure you can find adapters to fit this Bowen mount. I just use this as a back-light at the moment and it works great with some colored filters. Overall this strobe is great for getting product shots using a soft box/umbrella – using just the reflector hood by itself the light is way too intense. You’re gonna need to diffuse the light output.

It comes with a power cable a little over 12.5-ft; I don’t find it that lengthy either. I need around 15ft minimum. The remote is nothing fancy but the fancy part is that you can sync up to ten lights together! The most strobes I’ve use in the studio is around 3 strobes, 4-5 if I am trying to be creative. There’s not a need for me to use more than 3 at a time typically. You can chain these guys together and the remote can control each one individually per channel. That is extremely useful!

Overall I think this light is a good light and the way the technology is moving forward you get so much ample light output with so little power – the efficiency is just incredible. I still prefer my old school flash bulbs for still photography, however. The most important thing about this lamp is the consistency of the color temperature when you adjust the output power the color temperature stays consistently throughout the power output range. These continuous LED lamps are great for the video guys. The ones that need a lot of light output and little heat from the lamps. For photography, I’m going to stick to my flash strobes. For video shooters, these are just so efficient and produce great light output!

The CB60 is rated at 70w and I’m certain it’s more than enough for any scene. Overall a very good lamp that does not run super hot (the fan noise is whisper quiet) and it’s so easy to use. Overall build quality is plastic but the front end Bowen mount is sturdy. No wiggles, nothing bad at all. A very good quality light!

First of all, this thing, this light emits a lot. It’s extremely bright, and the LED assembly is crazy, with a computer processor style heatsink. The mostly aluminum body is clean, an the bright display is easy to to configure the right amount of light through the body and the included remote.

Being in a small studio, space efficiency is important, and this compact light is attached to a rolling folding tripod, and is folded, and hung on a rack when not in use. This fits perfectly, and since the rack is usually never full compared to the floor, it really makes life easier.

The build quality is good, its light, and hollow feeling, but I bet its mostly heatsinks and cooling design in there. The included hood works and is easy to side on. The LED gets warm for sure, especially quickly at high settings, but the heatsink seems to do well, there is some warmth as it should. The included tripod joint piece is the cheapest part as it is plastic. It works fine and looks fine but its still plastic. Considering how the materials in the rest of the light is pretty decent, this is where they cheaped out.

Speaking of high settings, I don’t see myself ever using it over 60%. That’s a lot of light in our small studio. But its good to see the power is there if needed. Plenty of settings to configure, and the remote is handy to have around. Though another remote to label, lose and stress over.

Overall, this is a well made value studio light, for the ‘pro-sumer’. It’s entry level and fits that gap between very questionable “randomly generated alphabetnumber soup brand” and “thats a very nice studio light, for wait, the cost of a camera body itself? Yes those are better and will last much longer, but for the budding novice, a small setup is a huge investment, and these lights may not always get used, but its so impressive when it does get used.

I find excuses to add it ambiently in the background on b-roll videos because I want to

Overall, I like the light for what it is: a very basic, daylight-only, AC unit. It has simple controls that are responsive, a remote, and reasonably good construction given its value pricing and positioning in the market.

Light quality is good and close to spec’d color temperature as judged subjectively by correcting photos to standard color cards. I do get some flicker at very low settings and there is a large center hot spot (fortunately amenable to diffusion). I haven’t experienced any noticeable drift in color temp in extended use. Physical temperature is well-controlled and the fan noise is low.

The mount could be better, but is consistent with most of its competitors.

Lately I’ve been leaving this light on a stand positioned vertically, or nearly so, in order to provide general room illumination and there are any number of similar dedicated roles that would suit it very nicely. It’s best suited to smaller venues and scenes given its 70 watt output.

Good value at the price and the remote provides extended functionality (e.g. group control).

Neewer has a great, solidly built product here in the CB60. These lights have recently been upgraded to 70 watts from the original 60w (hence the CB60 name). Not sure why they didn’t just change the name to CB70, though. Maybe to build on the CB60s extensive fanbase. As an example, I did a demo photoshoot of some dishes using two of these lights. You can see the setup and result in the images.

    Pros:

These continuous output lights are non-flickering, adjustable, powerful, and quiet.

They include the bowens mounted reflector, and because it uses a standard bowens mount, you can always add a diffuser or softbox if it uses the same industry-standard mount. As you can see in the pictures, you can attach gels to the reflector. I tested this with a green gel, giving the light just a slight green tint. More gels=deeper color.

The light includes a multichannel remote control that will allow you to control up to 10 lights with a single remote.

    Cons:

I do wish these lights supported Neewer Infinity, the communication protocol that is used by their app, so that you can use BlueTooth instead of a separate remote (or heaven-forbid WiFi that requires you to allow access to your entire phone and home network like some brands do).

It would have been super-sweet if this had come with a light stand, but that would have been extra icing on the cake.

The one thing that would have made this a 6 out of 5 star product is if it had come with a padded case for transport. I even looked to see if one is for sale, but I wasn’t able to find one. As someone who travels with my gear, this is almost a necessity, but at this price point, I didn’t really expect it.

Overall, this is a solid 5 star light, and is another great product from Neewer!
