I was pleasantly surprised when I took it out of the box, it looks very well made, all parts are metal and well machined. Time of course will tell how the screw fittings last. They have to be firmly tightened to carry the weight of my Canon 5dMK2 camera +light +mic, and I’ve only used it for three days so far, but on this experience the rig looks like it will last, and its certainly going to be worth the money. One thing to be aware of though, with a stills camera on it there is no camera handle so its tempting to put it down when not shooting, BUT , be careful how you set it down. With only three points of contact on the ground (tow handles and the shoulder pad) , and the camera weight off to one side, it will overbalance. Not a nice sight , watching your kit keel over and almost falling off the bench I put it down on. My own fix for this was to attach a small bike stand to the shoulder pad rod, which can be pushed out of the way when on the shoulder, and flicked out when you put it down to make a more stable platform. Adds a little to the weight but is safer. All in all though its a good buy, and will make your handheld shots much smoother. I’ve also tried it out with a Sony HDV camcorder and again it works well.

…I have purchased and used Neewer products for many years now, and find them to be reliable and good value for the buck. I bought this mainly for the barn-door light shade…but when I put my camera on it, I discovered a problem with one of the features. There is an adjustable wingnut to adjust the height of the opening on the barn-doors, depending on camera-body and lens. When the slide is lowered as far as it can go, the wingnut cannot lock that in place, as it bangs into the barn-door frame. I am looking into a solution to work around this, but it is a design-flaw.

This is Brilliant. I wish I had this a long time ago as working without it now would be difficult. It is very easy to put together and use. One of my best purchases this year. Check the video out and you will see how good it is to set up and use.

I paid just £42.99 for this just before Christmas 2022 and I felt it was well priced compared to other similar rigs. It was purchased for my daughter, a budding filmmaker who wanted a rig to keep her camera more steady while filming. The rig is supplied in two boxes with a couple of instruction leaflets showing how it goes together. They’re hardly needed as it’s fairly straightforward. She’s 16 and had it assembled in minutes on Christmas morning.

All the parts are well made and good quality. The rods can be stiff when trying to move them through their holes, but I guess it’s better that way than having everything loose.

The only change I made to the setup was to flip the bracket that adjusts the lense shroud height. As supplied the thumbscrew is on the inside, and depending on how you have it adjusted, it can be tricky to get your fingers in to release/tighten it. If you flip the bracket so the thumbscrew is on the outside, it’s always easily accessible.

I love this Rig for my

Sony FDR-AX53 Ultra HD 4K Compact Camcorder (HD 5-Axis Balanced Optical SteadyShot, 20x Optical Zoom, Wi-Fi and NFC)

. OK, it’s not balanced but makes it less tiring to hold the camcorder. The shoulder mount can also be detached so you use with just your hands. I haven’t tried it with my

Sony ILCE6000LB Compact System Camera with SELP1650 Lens Kit (Fast Auto Focus, 24.3 MP, Electronic View Finder, Wi-Fi and NFC) – Black

yet, but there’s absolutely no reason to think it won’t work.

As a beginner, this was easy to put together and use. Seems to be very stable and well built. As I currently add more and use it, time will tell if it lasts.

Does a good job of creating a more stable platform for DSLR’s and small video cameras. Problem is that the screw mounting the camera to the plate sheared off on the first day of use rendering it unusable for the rest of the shoot. I don’t know how much I trust the rest of the threaded hardware to withstand repeated loosening and tightening, which is a problem b/c there are a lot of screws on this thing.

I wanted to get something so I could do some steady shots, but also give me the chance to add somethings to it as well. I was about to buy an adapter to mound my monitor but noticed that the shoulder rest had another mounting threaded hole drilled into the upper part. My cold shoe mount screwed right in! I pushed forward the shoulder rest and mounted the monitor to that directly. it’s been working like a champ and am super happy with the layout. I did however need to make an adapter to raise the the front box a half an inch so my Nikon D500 with grip would mount with the lens aligned. all in all i’m super happy with this setup.

This shoulder rig is great!. I purchased it and it was delivered in two days with prime. It added stability during filming. I am shooting with a Canon 70D and was able to use multiple lenses. You can adjust the barn doors to fit your lens. I was able to fit a canon 10-18mm and a canon24mm lens with no problem. There are some Ikea like instructions for assembly but it is not too hard to assemble. The barn doors are plastic and clamp on to the rig and will probably break over time or from too much wear and tear but I believe Neewer sells the parts separate. If you are using a light attachment, the top barn door will cast a shadow onto your shot so your best bet is to buy a “y” adapter to give more height to your light. For the price, I really recommend this product.

I needed a rig to take some stable video with my DSLR but didn’t want to spend hundreds of dollars. This fit the need nicely. No frills or special functions, but it worked.

This product is great value for money compared to other rival rigs that can cost £100s of pounds for just one piece. Most cameras fit well, but some have big gaps between them and the matte box, which can create some optical flares. The camera can easily slide back and forth when needed which makes it easy for adding accessories. However, screws can become loose and the shoulder mount is hard to put on. Can also be very uncomfortable on long shoots.

I really like this rig. I would give it 4.5 Stars. The only thing I don’t like is the plastic sun shade. They made a really nice rig then put a cheap plastic sun shade on it. It works OK, but takes away the quality look and feel of the rig. Other than that, it is really nice and is so much better feeling than the other stabilizers I have. I still need to add my field monitor, light, and mic to it, but just the feel of having two hands and a shoulder rest, make this so much better than just the standard U type and balanced stabilizer I have. Worth the money…but the cheap plastic sun shade is disappointing.
