My son (8 yo) has been using an Instax film camera for about 4 years and we’ve limited his picture taking so as not to fill our house with Instax cards. Also I wanted him to carefully consider a subject before snapping a picture.
Now I want him to just take pictures and play with settings without worrying about film. This camera is perfect for that use. It has a few features to test, a modest (maybe substandard zoom), and decent picture quality.
As a note on battery life, you need to use lithium AA or you’ll burn right through batteries. The first lithiums I gave my son are about 300 pictures in and still going strong.
All in all this is not a camera for someone looking to beat out their smartphone. It won’t. It’s a good camera to learn with. I’m happy so far.

This review is mostly about the seller. The camera itself seems to be a good point and shoot especially for a teenage girl… if it would stay on for more than a minute.
The seller… I ordered this at the end of September for a Christmas gift. I was excited because I found this $60 camera for only $20 and thought I was getting a great deal. When I received it I turned it on and tested it out briefly. It seemed to work pretty well, however after my daughter received it for Christmas (three months later) and played with it for a few minutes it shut off randomly. At first it turned right back on then it stopped turning on and responding all together. We put different brand new batteries in it and once again it turned on but this time it shut off right away. We observed that it never showed a full battery icon even with new batteries. So obviously this camera does not work right and I immediately requested a refund. The seller, lotus media, refused because it had been more than 30 days since I purchased it. I wrote another email requesting that they take into consideration that it had been purchased as a Christmas gift and that was the reason for the delay, but they stuck by their “policy” and would not budge. I tried to file an A to Z claim with amazon and was told by them that I was outside my time frame for filing a claim. So basically I’m screwed. I’m glad that I only spent $20. Lesson learned – spend more time testing out electronics, a deal that’s “too good to be true” really is not a deal at all, and though I’ve always had good experiences with amazon I’m disappointed they didn’t back me on this. I can’t believe that this seller didn’t know exactly what they were selling and that’s why the price was so low. I’m sure they thought that was good enough compensation for the fact that the camera doesn’t work right, but this fact should have been made known in the description of the camera.

I would have liked a paper user manual rather than the online one. Kodak does not have that even as an option. The camera this replaced is very much like the one I got. Just a few more bells and whistles.

I bought this as a quick fix when I misplaced a more expensive small camera that I loved. It is easy to use and does more of a worthwhile job than you might have a right to expect given the price. If I needed another camera I’d definitely buy this one again. No regrets at all.

Since I have two other working digital cameras, I had certain expectations for this camera. So far, it is working well. My other two digitals have chargers (that were misplaced when we moved residence), but the batteries for this one are easily accessible. So far I have taken one good picture that I am keeping for quite a while. The photo was quite clear, but my other cameras are faster, my dog is a swift subject to try to capture.

used older version of this camera for 12 years or so. excellent little camera.
the new version is slightly more complicated but eventually i’ll know it inside-out.
great printed photographs and the videos are just great
very glad i replaced my old camera with this new version

Nice camera but very important to not you cannot use an SD card bigger than 32GB in this piece of kit!

Great little camera. It won’t win any photo contests but it takes good, clear photos with decent light. Bit uneven / can get blurry in low light conditions without flash, but no worse than any other pocket camera or even the best smartphone cameras out there in my experience. In dark settings with flash, it does good enough, no complaints. True optical zoom in a camera this price is a huge bonus. The LCD/display isn’t too choppy or slow, but you won’t mistake it for a high dollar camera. It’s got a fast enough refresh rate/quality to do the job without being frustrating.
My only qualm is it either eats batteries quickly or doesn’t read battery level correctly with rechargeable Ni-MH batteries. With a fully charged battery, after a couple dozen photos (some with flash, some not), the batteries read low. I continued to use it without the camera dying, so I assume it’s conservative in it’s battery level readout, or it’s optimized for 1.5V alkaline batteries. No big deal, I didn’t buy this for long photo shoots, just something I can give to the kids on trips and things, since it will be a cold day in the underworld before I buy my kids cell phones until midway into their teen years or later.

This is a good quality camera and worth every penny and great for connecting to the computer to download your pictures. Well recommended.

I bought this to take a few photos of things I was about to list online. The picture quality is actually worse than my old 2MP camera it replaced. Details are blurred and any tiny movement when taking the picture blurs everything big time. I suppose I’m used to the quality you get on even cheap phones these days. I’m really surprised that no progress seems to have been made in the budget compact camera market. The batteries (I used both Duracell and Energizer last for 100 photos at most, and that’s without flash. I can’t recommend this. I have no other recent camera to compare it with but surely there must be better out there..

Needed a decent lightweight point-and-shoot for my backcountry ski guide business to take photos of clients in action (and to document any anomalies that might come along). Because of the harsh conditions of cold and snow, didn’t want to invest in something too big or expensive – I accidentally dropped my previous PixPro in a crevasse at the end of last season, it’s gone forever, but was still working ok after two seasons and hundreds, if not thousands, of photos. Anyway, I just bought a new one – I like the price and the fact that it uses AA batteries. I can be out for a week or more and just carry two extra batteries, easy peasy. The key to this camera is to get the best batteries available – I use Energizer lithium brand, not cheap but they last far, far longer in the PixPro than anything else I’ve found and are not affected by cold. The quality of the photos is good enough for my uses, which is basically something clients can post to their social media accounts and email to friends. Be sure to adjust the settings for your needs, otherwise the camera goes to a default setting. Delivery was quick.
