The newer Hero cameras can be a little picky when using aftermarket batteries. I decided not to risk it and get the genuine GoPro batteries. The charger certainly looks slick and performs well. Buying any genuine product is a more costly proposition, but since I received the camera as a gift, I didn’t mind spending a little more.

This is a great and necessary accessory, but it’s seriously overpriced. It’s this very lightweight (which is a positive) charger, but feels almost hollow and a little cheap. It should be $20 max, $50 is a scam, but I bought it because well, I’m a sucker, but also because I felt like I needed it and didn’t want to mess around with other brands. I fell right into the capitalism trap. Damn it!
So, I guess they’re able to price high because fools like me will buy it — I feel bad about the decision, but I did it. #YOLO! amirite? No? Maybe? Moving on…
In terms of features, the LED indicator on top is useful, but I wish it showed more of a status bar rather than just red to green. That would be a great improvement so I know where each battery is in the charging process and when it’ll be fully charged.
Ultimately, this is a useful product And for me, necessary. I recommend it, but I also recommend to maybe use a giftcard or try to find a coupon or something and buy it off of gopro.com or somewhere running a sale. Full price will give you nothing but remorse every time you use it. This damn thing never fails to stare me down as I charge. But #YOLO!

Small and compact. Genuine Gopro product. As with most Gopro bits, its a little over priced. Good bright leds for charging status. Light enough not to notice extra weight in you camera bag. Uses USB C connection. No plug.

I bought this for four reasons.
1.) charge two batteries at once, while I’m recording/ using my GoPro
2.) save on wear and tear on the port on my camera. My toddlers love to plug and unplug things. This made an assume safety net to prevent them from breaking the cameras port.
3.) for the spare battery, spare potteries are roughly 29.99ish, so for A little more I got the charger to!
4.) It allows me to safety store my cameras away as well when the batteries are still charging vs them sitting on the counter!

This is way easier to charge than charging the batteries in the camera. Didn’t look at the size prior to ordering but was a lot smaller than I expected. Which is nice because it will be easy to pack. Pretty much the size of the camera. Charges pretty quick, allows you to always have a full battery and be able to use the camera while batteries charge. I would recommend this, one of the better accessories to have.

Whilst you can buy cheaper alternatives I’ve always found the genuine GoPro accessories to far better quality and therefore worth the extra money. The dual charger comes with a branded USB-a to USB-c cable and a spare battery (suitable for Hero 8). The GoPro batteries definitely last longer then third party versions.

Why did the engineers choose yellow and yellowish-green for the charge lights? The colors are very closely related and are very difficult to tell apart. A note to GoPro Engineers: Not everybody has as cool eyes as you. Have your engineers look at a color wheel. Mild color blindness is actually quite common and often goes undiagnosed. Maybe Yellow and Blue? Two colors that are not related.

To get a fast charger AND a spare battery in this kit made this an easy choice to buy. Works perfectly and both batteries provide power to the HERO8 for nearly an hour (of steady use) each. Highly recommended –

Awesome deal having an additional battery plus a charger is awesome. Charging is quite fast. Very convenient when traveling. It shows orange when charging and green when it is finished. Planning on taking with me on a trip soon.
