    Doesn’t fit. Won’t lock.

The prongs are too shin to lock properly. Even when mount is fully tightened, it moves freely. I had to add spacers to get it to work and even then its loose. Waste of $10

I was looking for something to make a go-pro mount for a project and ordered this and a couple extras. This one totally blew me away in a good way.

    1. It is metal! Yes. not cheap plastic but study aluminum.
    2. The base with the padding threads off, as does a spacer below it, revealing a TON of threads if you need that.

Overall this totally blew me away with how perfect of a solution it was for me. It looks like it would work well for the designed usage too! haha.

The GoPro-side attachment is too thin and needs to be shimmed with 2 pieces of paper towel for my light. For something heavier like a camera, at least 3 pieces of paper towel are needed. Other than this large flaw, the product is machine nicely, it is lightweight aluminum, and the 1/4” screw and tightener work well.

Not a great fit on go pro brand hinges. No matter how tight you make the screws, this piece will still move. If you want to shoot with a DSLR forget it. If you want to shoot with a smartphone it’s still not great but straight up kind of works. If there is lean, no way to correct it.

This is a nicely manufactured all metal accessory. That part is fine. BUT, its connection point with the GoPro universal clip is totally off. There is so much clearance between the GoPro universal clip and this attachment (sorry, I don’t have the vocabulary for this) it is virtually impossible to tighten it to the point that it is held firmly in place. And that’s with nothing attached to it. Screw on a camera and forget about it. It can’t stay in place…as long as there’s gravity, of course. The only reason I’m not returning it is because, a) it’s cheap, b) I was able to jury-rig the thing with a few pieces of gaffers tape to fill in the gaps and now I can tighten it enough to hold a small camera, and c) I cannot find another standard screw thread attachment for GoPro’s universal system.

I bought this so I could use my insta360 one x with my GoPro mounts. chose this based on reviews of it being nice quality metal over reviews of plastic ones usually breaking. it definitely seems strong and indestructible. however, when i mount my 360 one x and then tighten the locking ring, my insta360 one x still rotates a little on the mount despite me tightening it as strong as I can. that’s the only reason for the 4 instead of 5 star rating but this may be specific just to my use with the insta360 one x

The reason I got this adapter is, because I needed a way to adapt a GoPro chest mount, to a tripod standard 1/4-20 mount for a Gimbal. I have the Hohem Isteady Pro 3-Axis gimbal. I noticed something important to mention. If you were to use the bottom tripod mount on the gimbal, there is plenty of threads for the screw to thread on. However, if your using a chest mount, you would never use the bottom tripod mount, you would use the side mount on the gimbal.

And for some reason, Hohem recessed the tripod hole a little bit, which means that it reduces the amount of threads you can thread the screw in, due to the screw being so short in length! Since this mount technically has an adjustable shoe, I would have preferred it if the screw was longer. However, I managed to make it work, but I was certainly concerned about only having a few threads hold my 100 dollar gimbal on!

I do recommend this mount adapter, just be aware of the thread length, its only like an 1/8 of an inch in length! 4.5 out of 5 stars.

    UPDATE April 21st 2019:

I just discovered that this adapter has a spacer using up 1/8″ of threads. Unscrew the adapter off the threads, then remove the spacer, then screw the adapter back onto the threads, now there is over 1/4″ worth of threads to tie in. 🙂

I’ve tried to attach this to a few different 1/4 plates and get the same results every time. I can get the adapter to mount snug up against the device (base plate) but the GoPro end will still rotate and thread in/out. I have a flat bar with like 5 1/4 tripod threads on it. I am able to hold that in my hand and CRANK down the lock nut. The GoPro end will still rotate and thread in/out of the plate. There is a second (kind of hard to see) “lock” nut that I’m assuming should thread down to the GoPro end and lock it into place. However if you tighten it, the GoPro end still rotates and the “lock” nut just threads along with it!!

Its not usable at all. You can get it to tighten by just screwing it all the way in, however the GoPro end is at an angle thus leaving it unusable. Will be returning.
