I returned mine. This thing is okay for light duty use. It is almost entirely made of plastic, which is fine, but I was never able to get it secure enough for my liking. This is simply a limitation of the design. They should have designed it with a washer on top. The washer should have a rubber coated top and a smooth bottom. The rubber would increase friction between the mount and camera, and reduce friction between the washer and knob, allowing you to get the knob nice and tight. A lot of quality SLR ball mounts are designed this way, with high and low friction in the right places to keep everything where you left it.
I suspect it would probably do fine for attaching your small point and shoot or POV cam to a selfie stick, tripod, or hand grip. However, I would never trust this thing while mountain biking or motorcycling like the product description suggests. It seems like the slightest amount of vibration, jarring, or even wind would cause your camera to unscrew itself from this thing. One option would be to use a little blue loctite to secure it to your camera but that would make it a lot less convenient to use. Also, I am happy to report that I didn’t have any issues using this with any gopro accessories. It seemed to fit perfectly.

I used this to attach a Polaroid Cube in its underwater housing to a GoPro waterproof camera float. It did the job just fine, and worked as it should.
My only complaint is that the screw and washer showed signs of corrosion on the second day of our diving trip (salt water). I was able to remove this with vinegar. I recommend rinsing in fresh water and drying right away after use. Maybe I’ll try a silicone-based lubricant on the threads next time. The mounting plate is rubber so avoid anything petroleum-based.
For those interested, my setup was:
Polaroid Cube in waterproof housing
Polaroid Tripod Mount
Arkon GoPro Hero Mount (this product)
Waterproof Camera Float, Float Handle for GoPro Hero… (from Alaska Life)

I ordered this so that I can attach an aluminum frame for my Go Pro to standard go pro accessories. I was hoping this would do the trick. IT DOES NOT. The screw on this is about 2mm too long. You can’t adjust the frame because the plate to do that is loose due to the fact that the screw is too long. This means that the camera would always be off-center or point in a direction that isn’t straight. This is poorly designed. I am returning this one.

It is very, very, very cheap plastic for this price. And it is hard to position this. Extremely disappointed…..

This was exactly what I was looking for to go onto my PolarPro PowerPole-Battery Integrated GoPro Extension Pole, with a XShot XShot Mobile Phone Holder, to use my iPhone 4S and Samsung Galaxy S3 smartphones with the pole.
The adapter fit perfectly on the GoPro mount and the build quality is quite sturdy. I look forward to using it to hold my camcorder on the stick too.
If you’re in need of a similar adapter for your GoPro mounts – don’t hesitate – buy it!
NOTE: The screw in the mount I received is silver in color, not brass or gold colored as on Amazon.

Your camcorder may not like this adapter if it happens to have a raised platform at the tripod screw area like mine does (Samsung F90). My JVC Everio camcorder and my Tascam DR-05 are flat and have no problems. If yours does, consider a different adapter designed like the Drift GoPro adapter where the plastic turning wheel is on the bottom side of the adapter; those work better for me.
The one I received was not the one in the picture, but I only noticed after Arkon had generously sent me a replacement because I couldn’t get mine to work with my camcorder correctly. Both of them seem to work almost the same. So I have the privilege to tell you all about both versions, because who knows which one you might get?!
How to tell what version you got? Silver or gold screw. Silver screw with the infamous strange free spinning washer was the one I got from Charger City, and some others appear to have got too. Gold screw was from Arkon which feels sturdier and heavier, but doesn’t fit my real GoPro mounts (from the grabbag) without a LOT of fiddling. It’s way too tight.

I ordered this to fit my Fujifilm camera to a Gopro mount to make the camera easier to use in the marine environment. and also to provide flotation using a Gopro floating grip. When I received it I did not notice that the screw was just slightly off center. That means that after shooting a lot of pics and videos on the trip, the pictures were just a bit tilted or sloping up. Odd for water pictures to run down hill. In the bright sun it was hard to tell the it was a bit off but once In took a look at the mount I noticed that it had arrived with a slightly bent screw. Upon further examination I see the mount I received was the silver mound with the odd washer on not the brass one as pictured. Brass would have worked better in the marine environment\. By the time I noticed this it was to long to return. Make sure if you order you get the brass one and that your mounting screw it completely straight. If not return it.

The product is well made and worked as described. Very satisfied with purchase and will definitely buy from this store again.

Slightly BENT screw, and came with NO cushion on mount. I don’t get how some folks get a mount with cushion, but I didn’t – I suppose you will have to take your chances. By the way, mine also came with a silver mount, not a brass mount as pictured. Would have returned if it wasn’t for the fact I needed it, but I had to improvise and use a piece of styrofoam to serve as cushion on the mount, otherwise my camera’s base would have scratched. Also had to constantly and carefully re-straighten the camera – remember, slightly bent screw….not worth the 8 bucks for just this “one” piece of crap.

As the title reads, this manufacturer totally blew it when designing this product. Their adjuster nut is useless for having the ability of locking the camera in whichever rotation the user prefers as it only has about 1/64″ of a recess in it, meaning it does not come far enough up the threads to lock the camera in place at your chosen rotation. That meant my camera locks at 90 degrees out of alignment with the GoPro mount. Totally useless product…unless you only want to shoot in a sideways orientation that is. 😉
