The price for two of these sturdy desk mount stands is what other sellers are charging for just one so they are a bargain in my view and because of how well made and versatile they are, I decided to get another one. I own a lot of photographic stands and rigging equipment and these are a welcome addition to my arsenal.

They are designed to clamp on the edge of a desk to hold a small camera or LED lights but I also attach them to the top of doors or other surfaces that are 2½” wide or smaller if I need to put a light or camera in an odd place so it won’t be seen in the photograph I’m taking. You can also hang this arm from the ceiling.

The unit is well designed and constructed and functions exactly as it should. The extension arm can extend to 23½” and the pivot point at the base has interlocking teeth so it stays put at whatever angle you position it at. There’s no fear of it slipping.

Everything is made of aluminum except for the tensioning knobs and the platform on the ball head. Contrary to what another reviewer said, the ball heads work fine and loosen and tighten as they should. The ball heads are small and are not designed for heavy loads.

The expandable desk clamp is a welcome feature as it allows you to clamp around something that is up to 2½” wide. One small design flaw is the tightening knobs on the clamp. They are a tiny bit too long and they will touch each other when you’re tightening them if they both happen to be vertical at the same time. It’s a small annoyance but doesn’t hinder the unit’s performance as you are able to fully tighten the two knobs.

Because this small detail was overlooked by the manufacturer, I can’t give it the full five star rating.

    Pros:
Price is amazing for two units
    Overall build quality is superb
Ball-head is good for light webcams or LED light panels, and a hex key can tighten the ball to stick in place—even works on heavy items, however, that won’t matter (see “Cons” below)
Length is great, better than almost everything else
Swivel and angle articulations at the base are excellent
Clamp is well designed and capable

    Cons:
The arm attaches to a pin that is not an industry standard size (i.e., 5/8″), so you can’t plug-and-play with other parts you may already have in the studio
The plastic knobs are fine for light items, but the knob for the extension tube won’t prevent the tube from rotating if the item is heavy (like a SHURE or Yeti mic); that’s fine if you want it to hang straight down or up, but not great if you want to angle the mic

Overall, I took a star off for the plastic knobs and small pin size, both of which limit the usefulness in the studio. If you’re only going to use this to hold a light webcam or a small LED panel, then it’ll work great and you can’t beat the price. For my needs, I wound up needing to get a stronger arm for my mic.

I’m using it for my small projector and it works perfectly. And I can bend it horizontally to keep it out of sight when I’m not using it. I’m pleased.

I’m really glad I decided to try these. I make videos on a few various things (locksport, watchmaking, etc), and have had a lot of trouble finding a stand of some sort that worked well for getting those top-down views. I was previously using a tripod on my desk. You can imagine how frustrating that was and how much room it took up. But these have solved the problem. They feel quite sturdy, having a canon dslr mounted on them. I also put my phone on them and obviously it wasn’t an issue. I will say, I haven’t had a single use for the other stand. I appreciate that there are two, but in my experience it takes about the same amount of time to switch mounts from my camera to my phone as it does to completely switch these stands. Either way, they work great and I highly recommend!

I wanted to use this for a Shure SM58 mic but although it appears like it will do the job, it really didn’t. The mice is too heavy or my hands are simply too weak to be able to snug it down properly. I also wish the desk clamp was wider as I can’t use the table I wanted to use because it’s too thick for the clamp to fit around it.

This seems pretty decent but I definitely wouldn’t plan on using it with your heavier DSLR or Mirrorless cameras. I was hoping it would work for some overhead shots with a Z6 but it seems a little more lightweight than I had hoped. So I don’t want to risk breaking the arm or the camera. But for basic phone shots or lightweight all-in-one bodies, it should works pretty well.

There are a lot of desk mounts out there, but this is the only set I have seen that can be set at different angles.

In general, desk mounts like these are useful for holding lights or microphones. The fact that these can be angled makes their use more flexible. The mounts clamp to the desktop, so there are no holes or other permanent damage to your desktop.

The mounts are sturdy and well built and will be my go to mounts for my desk lighting and microphones. I am very happy with this product and glad that I found them.
