Works great with my Canon speed light 430 ex flashes.

Bought to remotely connect a Canon 430 EXII speedlite and a Canon 580 EXI speedlite to a Canon 5D MkII. These receivers are controlled by a Godox XPro-C attached to the camera hotshoe. Whilst the 430 works perfectly, I can only remotely adjust the 580’s ETTL and Flash Exposure Compensation functions. It will not respond to adjustments in Manual Mode. I understand this is due to the age and relatively basic communication functions of the 580, with it being a Mark One version. I am happy to compromise on this until I replace the 580, as it has saved me a fortune buying alternative controllers that would supply the necessary connectivity.

I don’t usually submit product reviews, however, I hope that any amateur photographers, or other, will find this useful. Before you decide to read on, the focus of this review is to highlight that sadly this particular off camera trigger is incompatible with Metz Mecablitz 58 AF II speed lights for a Canon DSLR.
My set up – I have Canon EOS 600D and EOS 6D cameras, and two Metz Mecablitz 58 AF II speed lights. All have the latest firmware updates installed. I wanted to get away from using the Metz ‘flash activated’ master/slave capability due to ‘line of sight’ limitations for ‘off camera’ flash photography. Also, it means one light has to remain on the camera in the case of the 6D due to no inbuilt trigger flash, limiting options.
So, I purchased two Godox XR1-C receivers, and a XPro to trigger them. Unfortunately, after countless hours of trying, and even more on YouTube and camera forums, I have found no solution. You would expect it to fire the flash in Manual mode, but it doesn’t, even though the receiver’s light shows the signal was sent. In TTL mode, it will flash, however, the display on the Metz becomes erratic, pulsing and beeping, eventually resulting in the flash discharging in strobe mode! In summary, the Canon dedicated Godox receiver will work with Godox speed lights but definitely not Metz guns. There are plenty of reviews on YouTube confirming it will work with a Canon speedlight, so it wasn’t a big leap to assume it would work with Metz dedicated guns as well, but it doesn’t. In fairness to Godox, they can’t cover all manufacturers, dedicated or not.
Finally, I must say that the Godox components look nicely made and have metal hotshoes. They are really simple to use and have a good radio range. After reading reviews on Godox products, I’ve decided to return these two receivers and purchase two new Godox speed lights to work with the XPro trigger instead. A bigger financial outlay, but time to upgrade to newer technology. Hope this prevents you going through the same frustration.

Makes using my Canon Speedlites with my Godox AD200s easy.

I originally wasnt going to buy this because my Godox strobe already has a receiver built within it. But, when I needed to control the brightness of my Canon 580ex ii Speedlight as a secondary, primary, or only source, this receiver made it possible. I was a to remotely change flash output on it’s own group so I didn’t alter the light output of the strobe. It didn’t require any set up. It worked how I needed it to as soon as I turned it on.

This is the receiver I needed to go with the Godox trigger I already ordered. I have a Godox flash, but also a Canon flash, so with the trigger and receiver, I can use both flashes off camera. Adorama has a version of this trigger and flash (I believe it is called Flashpoint), and it is recommended as Adorama has more specific warranty support, as they are a camera store as opposed to Amazon that sells everything. I don’t anticipate problems, though.

The X1-C was automatically connected to my Xpro-C transmitter and it was ready to work, but i bought it to syncronize my Bowens studio flash or Strobes.
The X1-C specifications (and manual) indicates that it can be use as a trigger through PC Sync cable. It even is packaged with three different cables and a coupler. But I tried to sync with a Bowens Sprit as in the picture, but there were no triggering at all.
The manual doesn’t indicate if the system has to be connected to certain Strobes or Studio Flashes, so it supposedly should work with any system.

Got up and running very quickly without issue. There is a little of learning curve for all the features, but that should be expected!

Keine deutsche Bedienungsanleitung!
