As I’m looking to invest in the mirrorless system, I purchased this flash to go with my new Sony A73 and was really disappointed to learn the AF assist beam is not emitted from the flash. Instead, an AF beam comes out of the body like a point-and-shoot camera. As someone who shoots weddings, not have a good AF assist beam make focusing during dark receptions is really compromising. I’ve also read that using a flash on the mirrorless systems disables the Settings Effect Preview (WYSIWYG) on the camera.

I use this in manual mode as my “portable” trigger for my Godox and flash point strobes in conjunction with another R2 trigger attached to the top of the camera. The strobes themselves are set to fire off with the last “power” signal that they receive. So I set the flash power with this little guy and then, when the camera fires, it sends a plan “fire” signal form the trigger mounted to the camera and the strobes deploy with the last setting they receive from this Xpro.
This means I can control flash power wireless with this Xpro in my pocket. Which I like. I often composite layered images and with the tripod often on carpeted floors I like to minimize the touching of the camera itself as much as possible once the shot is set up. I don’t want to shoot an ambient layer and then start fidgeting with the flash trigger on top of the camera as I dial in flash power for multiple strobes. This current setup, in conjunction with a wireless camera shutter release, means I can minimize hands-on interaction with the camera as much as possible.

I received the Godox X1 Pro s on June 7, 2018 for my Sony a7lll.
My flashes are Yongnuo 565 EX ll for Canon and have receivers that are Godox 1 for Canon. I was a Canon shooter for many years.
So far all seem to function well. I have had a few issues with the flashes not firing. At this point I am not sure if it is OE (operator Error), the transmitter, receivers or not placing the transmitter into the hot shoe tight enough. I will update this review if I able to discover a remedy.
The reason for the 4 star review that concerns me. I purchased brand new good quality rechargeable AA batteries. Charged them completely, put them in the transmitter and the battery indicator indicated half charge. It did not take long using the unit for the indicator to show ¼. I replaced the rechargeable batteries with new Duracell batteries I have an indication of a full charge.
I have rad that the rechargeable batteries have to charged as many times to reflect a full charge. I will update review if that is so.
I have 4 flashes and with receivers and transmitter I use 26 batteries. I use my camera for real estate photography and rechargeable batteries are a real necessity for me.

Have had this product for about 6 months. I used Energizer Lithium Batteries and still have lots of juice left even after dozens of shoots, so battery life is good.
I find this transmitter works very reliably and is easier to use than the X1 which is why I purchased this flash, and you can easily control a group of flashes for portrait shoots. It is also affordable, esp. compared to native Sony flashes. The only downside of this product I found is that it can sometimes not work as well if you are using a complicated setup, I have found that while my flashes always fire, sometimes when I set the flash power in the transmitter it doesnt sync with the flash, and have also had some issues with high-speed sync and the zoom feature not working between the flash and transmitter.
These small issues can be annoying at times but the flash has always fired consistently so if used in manuel mode or adjusting the flash directly it works every time. Overall a great value for your money.

I have been using this for over a year with my Godox AD300 and V1. They work well with each other. Its simple to use when attached to the camera.
I would highly recommend to all.

I already bought this trigger for CANON & NIKON and the foot was in METAL. Well build and very reliable. The Sony version = plastic foot…. I tried to fix it in my camera hotshoe ; TOO TIGHT ! Almost break everything while trying to take it off ! Hope Godox will fix it !

Love this thing. I use it for almost every time I use my flash. Allows you to get your flash off the camera and get more creative with shadows.

This product is easy to use and has made life easier to control all of my off camera flashes.

A big improvement over the original X1T-S.
If you’re upgrading from the original X1T there’s a bit of a learning curve but nothing major. Use it for a bit and you’ll appreciate how easy it is to control your lights. Aside from the improved functionality, the manufacturing specs are a lot tighter… no more fiddling around with the loose spinner wheel or doubling hitting buttons.
With respect to functionality, my favorite new feature is the TCM (TTL Convert to Manual) function. It will allow me to take a shot with my key light in TTL mode and the have the XPro convert it to manual settings. From there I’ll me able to dial in my desired ratios for other light. Brilliant. I also like the fact that I can now control the zoom settings on my flashes from the camera.
Note: Maybe because I initially loaded almost dead batteries, my unit would only switch between Manual an Multi modes. I had to reset the unit (pressing the F2 and F3 buttons simultaneously) to get full functionality back. No big deal, just a heads up in case you find yourself in a similar situation.
With respect to the vendor Emgreat (or Pergear), I highly recommend you purchase from them. I’ve dealt with them for all my Godox purchases and they have always been very responsive to inquiries. I haven’t had any warranty issues but I’m sure they will stand behind their sales, I’ve seen them go the extra mile helping out someone on Amazon.com that didn’t even buy their Godox flash from them.
A nice touch with my XPro purchase was a card from Emgreat offering a free extra six month warranty on the product. Nice touch.

The Xpro is more convenient to use than the X1. It’s easy to see and changes settings on the angled screen.
I have the Sony version which has a plastic foot that is easy to break. It still works on the camera although it generates an error that an accessory in incompatible with the camera. I hope Godox makes a future version with a metal foot for Sony cameras.

The media could not be loaded.
At first I didn’t think it was going fit because it felt so tight, but if you wiggle it slowly and have a little patience it’ll fit. Gotta be careful on getting it out though if you’re gentle. Hopefully this helps some people that are having issues.

I bought this to go on my sony a74 and it is a tight fit, i need need t wrench to take this off my hot shoe. This is a total waste of money, i cant wait to return this POS

This was my first flash trigger ever. Used it a few times, but not often. When it works, it works well. ergonomically sound and menu’s are decent enough. Range was never a problem, and the batteries last forever. However… the foot is VERY fragile. As I said, I hardly used it but today found that the foot was cracked along one edge. Possibly bumped it while mounted maybe? regardless its now useless so 70$ at the time and I have an expensive paperweight. Renders my flash setup useless. /Sigh. Something to keep in mind when ordering this unit.
