This is my first external monitor for a camera. It’s very clear and focusing with older lenses is much easier now. I’d say the screen/video quality is a significant upgrade from my A7III’s screen. Other than that, the monitor itself feels pretty cheap and it would definitely break if dropped. Slappin’ a cage on this bad boy would alleviate that issue with the added weight but it’s already pretty light. One thing that drove me crazy was a buzzing sound coming from the battery area. I did several tests and after receiving a replacement, I was plagued with the same buzz that was picked up by my shotgun mic! As a last ditch effort, I adjusted the brightness to 10 (max) on both monitors and the buzzing disappeared…! After this workaround, I’d say I’m pleased overall (despite 10 being the only working brightness level.) It’s not a pro tool but a pro can use it without any issues. Hope you see this review before chucking it due to the buzz, tho. ;p

I do quite a lot of shoots, and it gets difficult straining your eyes on the small camera monitor over time. And I wasn’t looking for anything crazy like the Atomos Ninja V with a bunch of features. So I gave this a try, and for the most part, I’m really satisfied with what it has done.
Most of the features it offers are already listed, but having the false color and LUT input feature was really a game changer and helped me envision a lot of what I was shooting. The menu system is pretty easy and straightforward, through the control of one joystick, and it’s convenient that it comes with a mount for your camera already.
The only cons there are really are that the protector to block out any sun is pretty flimsy, and I don’t use it at all, and over time I had to replace the HDMI cord that came with it (but that’s expected with wear and tear). And additionally, my monitor has a slight light bleed through it, but barely noticeable and it’s still hard to complain about, considering the price point.
It’s a 5 for me considering that every other monitor is crazy expensive out there, and I definitely think that if you’re a beginner or looking for a budget monitor for your camera, this has to be a consideration.

Absolutely incredible for the price!! It has made framing and using manual focus so much easier. It also inspires me to make more content seeing what I’m shooting on a larger screen while shooting. It is made of a lot grade plastic. Not cheep but not premium. The thumb toggle is a so like 4/10 but does the job. Other then that I freaking love it!

I have nothing but great things to say about the Osee 5 monitor. It’s perfect for a beginner, it’s helped me get accurate exposure using False Color. I’ve captured sharp in focus footage and I love the aspect ratio mattes to properly frame my shots. And being able to throw on a LUT to see what the finished product will look like is amazing. The only thing that I find tricky, is the menu joystick. But after some getting used to, I can navigate like a pro. So if you’re just starting out and don’t want to spend a heap of cash on a pro monitor, you can absolutely get stellar results from the Osee 5!

I own many on-camera monitors over the year (SmallHD, Atomos) and this one is by far the best monitor for its price. I mainly use my SmallHD Indie 7 which on my Sony FX6, but this little guy comes very handy for a DSLR or a mirroless camera like an A7SIII. Yes, it’s made of plastic and feels a bit cheap BUT if you handle it with care, I’m sure it will last for years. The bracket is made of metal and it comes with 3 hdmi cables which are a bit short in my opinion. They’re perfect for a mirroless but if you mount this on a FX6 for exemple, the cable is way too short to reach the hdmi port of the camera.
The hood is okay, I’m not sure the elastic that hold it on the monitor will last very long, but it’s a nice addition to the kit.
The monitor is not SUPER bright, so the hood is a must if you shoot outside…and even that, it could hard to see on a very sunny day.
But you got what you paid for and to be honest, I can’t imagine having a better monitor than this for the price.
Finally, it is super user friendly, easy to navigate through the different menus and create custom pages and you have all the tools that a thousand dollar monitor have: zebra, false colors, peaking, anamorphic mode, LUTS, histogram, waveform.
Don’t hesitate a second!

Good quality screen with reasonable viewing angles, gets very bright too. I love that it has the 5-way control stick instead of being touchscreen, and the presets are really useful for quickly swapping between various setups of on-screen displays.
However it has the same flaw that the rest of these budget monitors seem to have; it drains the battery even when the switch is physically off. In this case I measured 9mA, which will drain the average NP-F550 completely in around 12 days.

The Osee T5+ Is an outstanding monitor. This monitor is budget friendly, and packs plenty of essential features for any filmmaker or creative. The various exposure tools, and the ability to load your own viewing luts are key features, and they’re all found in the T5+. The most surprising attribute is the brightness. The 1000 nits of brightness truly makes this monitor one of the brightest available at its price point. This monitor is prepared to perform well in any environment! I’m impressed, and I look forward to trying out more Osee products in the future.

It is a great monitor for the price. Very straightforward, great durability, and simple set up.
I do wish it was touch screen as well as the menu system was a little bit simpler to manage, but honestly it just takes some time and practice and after a few uses, you will get the hang of it.
Due to the joystick being the way to move through the menus, its a little challenging moving through pages, selecting the correct things, etc. but its surely not a deal breaker if you push yourself to use it twice a week at least.
But all in all I would give it an 8/10 for all the features for such a good price!

Exactly what I was hoping for and then some, more than bright enough for a sunny day and although made of plastic and a bit on the light side it’s worth every dollar and then some
