Saw an ad for this and thought it was a great concept to use instead of multiple suction mounts that I use. Paid 70.00 for the full kit and was excited to be able to just move it from one mont to another, but sadly I used it once and the main green aluminum mounting bracket that connects to my go pro stripped out. At first I thought no big deal as I have tons of those so I just screwed in another one and moved on, but quickly noticed it had disappeared. No worries, figured I didn’t tighten it all the way so I grabbed another one. This one too went lose so after further inspection I see the issue isn’t the screw knob, but the piece it screws into which is a fixed part and not replaceable. Considering this is the main piece that actually connects to my GoPro so I can move it from one piece to another is now obsolete so back to my suction cups I go. If Amazon or the seller do the right thing I’ll update my review.

I really liked this product as I did a lot of research prior to purchase. Unfortunately I had to return as I could not get the Snap Mount base to tighten on the system I have in place (Forevercam 360 rotation mount) on my bike. When installed, my GoPro was not able to lock in place but rather was able to move freely.
This being stated, the good are the magnets as they are extremely strong and I can definitely see utilizing this system in a variety of ways.
My application was for my bike as I wanted something that provided a quick release vice me having to constantly screw/unscrew my GoPro on a daily basis after riding.
I really wanted to give this very high marks and would have if it was compatible with my mount. I will definitely recommend (5+ Stars) if it is compatible with your mount as you will not be disappointed.
Hope this helps!

For what I paid for this thing I figured the design would be better suited. It is not designed for use with the Osmo Action at all. I had to take a dremel and shave off the sides so my OA would fit in the magnetic back plate when mounted. Also I am not impressed with magnetic design. When back plate is under your shirt, the camera moves all around giving shaky footage, since the shirt is not anchored. I have wound up attaching the back magnetic plate (which I had to reengineer) to sit on a chest plate under my shirt to keep it stable. Cool concept, but far to expensive for the poor product execution.

Why had this not been thought of before. Delightfully clever!

I really wanted to like these mounts, and at first I did. But the problem is (as Jon Race –in the first review here on Amazon –pointed out) the green nut that is embeddded into the buckle mount is not strong enough. I measured and it bottoms out in less than 3 full turns, while the GoPro nut gives more than five full turns. In the pictures I post it clearly shows how much smaller the green nut is than GP nut. The reason the nut is not on the mount is because it was stripped out the first time I tried to tighten it down. It never got tight enough so it wouldn’t move. And as I tried to tighten it just stripped out from the plastic right away. No matter how strong the magnets are — and they are strong — as soon as a stiff breeze hit the camera in the buckle mount it would fall down.
Combined with the unusability in the media Mod or in my Smallrig 3084 cage, this mount is completely unusable and I am returning it right away.
****Easy solution: just make a Snap mount that incorporates the genuine GoPro buckle mount. Stay in your lane. When that happens I will buy more of these and review accordingly. Sorry, nice try.

These are okay for light go pro activities. Magnets are not strong enough for mountain biking. Returned.

Everytime i hit a bump or pothole my GoPro goes flying. I have to use a backup tether for when the magnet slips off. Very disappointed that it’s so easy to slide apart. Save your money for better accessoires.

The media could not be loaded.
This is a great accessory for the go pro hands down. But with the hero 8 and newer GoPros there’s a media mod that u can use. And the way I use the media mod I am limit on what you can do with this accessory. Reason being the media mod make the GoPro wider. And the hero 9/10 are bigger than the hero 8. I’m have the hero 8/10 and they both have the same downfall when using this accessory. Other than that the mount is great. Take off the media and you all the functions of the mount back. But lose the functionality of the media. This is where you choose the lesser of the two evil. Hope this help. I’ve posted pics as well…

This is a good thought that lacks a little in execution. With a standard GoPro the system will work as advertised, but as soon as you introduce any additional options to your GoPro you run the risk of the Snap Mount becoming useless. With the Media Mount the mounting screw has to come in from the left side when the front of the camera is facing you. The Snap Mount has it coming in from the right side, no problem for a non-optioned GoPro, but the Media Mod has the scallop for the knob on the left. It is near impossible to screw in the knob without damaging the threads in the glued in nut. The nut itself also has a problem, as stated by others, in that it does not have enough threads to guard against tearing the few threads it does have.
With the Media Mod, the Snap Mount can not folds backwards to a flush position, so that the camera is at a zero angle to the mount, basically, the snap mount has ears on the mount that will not allow the mount plane to match the camera plane. Another issue is the three ports on the back of the Media Mount, your going to have to cut the protruding wings on the Snap Mount to have good access to them.
Snap Mount could have made a mount that has all of these changes, I think they just didn’t keep their eyes on the changes needed, fortunately I’m a machinist, so I’m making my own mods to make this work. But if you don’t have the tools or inclination to do this, you are limited to not using a Media Mount or not using a Snap Mount.

I have tried suckers to mount DJi Osmo pockets and and DJI action cams on cars and I never felt sure of them.
The strong magnets in this mounting system provides a strong mount to iron-based surfaces ( no good for Aluminium of course ) and I have tried it and am confident it is as good as you will get.
Mounted on a car it is just brilliant and not too big and unsightly to attract attention.
Worth every penny.

This seems well built with very strong magnets. For a GoPro it is probably awesome, and I think it will work well for the Insta 360R when not shooting 360. However, with the 360 module attached, the Snap Mount does not fold up completely against the 360R, and I am pretty sure it will be visible when taking a 360 shot on a selfie stick.
This product was not designed for the Insta 360 R camera so I was not expecting it would be perfect and am not deducting a star because I think that would be unfair. For the 1″ module on the Insta 360 R, I believe this will work just fine, and for 360 images rendered in less than a full 360 mode (such as crystal ball or fisheye views) it should also be fine. But there are just limitations for full 360 functionality.
Considering getting the cell phone adaptor as the magnetic attachment options are tempting.
